TPPP Episode 22 : Adamantly Atheist

Welcome to another episode of everybody’s favorite Southern podcast! This week on the pre-ramble, I start the long-delayed Twitter follower roundup. I also mention that I will be on an upcoming episode of Inciting Incident Podcast. Finally, I talk about a tweet I sent out that kicked up a little controversy.

On the palaver, I talk to atheist activist and all-around awesome human being Adam Collins. We talk about his journey to atheism; his controversial exploits that have made him infamous; the Atheists of Facebook Online Convention; his run for Cincinnati City Council; as well as other interesting and cringe worthy topics. Adam is honest, kind, charismatic, and gives zero fucks, and I really enjoyed talking to him. I hope y’all enjoy listening to the conversation.

In the outro I mention that the episode with Bryce Blankenagel is really popular and has already jumped to number two in total episode downloads behind the inaugural episode. The show got the Blankenagel Bump! I hope y’all enjoy the show!

TPPP Episode 21 : Naked Politics

Happy New Year, and welcome to another episode of The Podunk Polymath Podcast! This week on the pre-ramble I talk briefly about the impending inauguration of Donald Trump and the sense of impending doom I feel, as well as the need for us to fight against the Trump agenda. I also talk about the terrorist attack on a nightclub in Istanbul, and the facts that are currently known about this tragedy.

On the palaver I this week I speak with the host of ‘Naked Mormonism’, Bryce Blankenagel. We talk briefly about his podcast, but then we delve into a topic he stays away from on his show : Politics. We talk about the election of Donald Trump and the implications of his pending administration, as well as the need for people with common goals to come together to try to make this country better. Bryce and I didn’t agree on everything, but I think it was a respectful and fruitful conversation. I think y’all will enjoy it.

TPPP Episode 20 : An Inciting Incident

Happy Holidays from The Podunk Polymath Podcast! For those who celebrate Christmas, I hope it was full of joy and laughs. For those who are still celebrating, continue to enjoy! And for those who struggle with this time of year for whatever reason, you have my sympathies, and I hope you get through relatively unscathed.

For the palaver, I have the honor and privilege of speaking to author of ‘The PC Lie : How American Voters Decided I Don’t Matter’; podcast host at ‘Inciting Incident’; and activist Ris McCool. We talk about her book, her podcast, and her experiences as a transgender woman. She is very charismatic and full of a righteous rage that is and will be stoked for the next four years by a Trump administration. She is someone to watch, as I think her ambition and courage will prove to be an asset during the travails that are sure to experience for the next four years.

I also wanted to mention I was on the Christmas edition of Bi Any Means Podcast along with Ris, The Prophet Jeremiah, and Uber Forty Seven. I also contributed to the airing of grievances on The Biskeptical Podcast, and I contributed a Robert Ingersoll quote to an episode of Secular Yakking. So, grab a cold glass of eggnog and enjoy the latest PoPoPo!

TPPP Episode 19 : A Hidden Epidemic

It’s time for another episode of The Triple Po! This week I kick things off in the pre-ramble by talking about the Chinese Navy seizing a U.S. Navy Drone and my take on what caused it and what could be the outcome. I also tell y’all I did a little rant video on YouTube about Trump and how I can’t stand him. I may or may not have been inebriated. Lastly, I talk about how I received a mysterious voicemail on the voicemail line left by a gentleman who sounds strangely familiar. This gentleman had what sounded like a British accent, and he gives us Season’s Greeting, heathen and believer alike!

On the palaver, I speak with Kory Diggs about human trafficking. We talk about what human trafficking is; the different types that exist; who is most affected; her own stories about working with victims; as well as what we can do to help. It’s a somber subject, to be sure, but one that does not get anywhere near the attention it needs or deserves. I hope y’all learn something from this conversation, because I certainly did. Thank your for listening.

TPPP Episode 18 : Social Justice with Sincere

Greetings, and welcome to another episode your mother told you not to listen to, The Podunk Polymath Podcast! This week on the pre-ramble, I talk about the news that a CIA report has confirmed that Russia was complicit in hacking the Clinton emails and releasing them to Wikileaks, and how Obama has ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter. I express my fear of the outcome, and what can be done if the election is shown to be compromised. I also talk about a great book I read “The PC Lie : How American Voters Decided I Didn’t Matter” by Marissa McCool. It is a stinging indictment of those who voted for Trump and how she fears for her very existence as a transgender woman, as well as other topics, such as what we can do to stand up for those who are most vulnerable to the policies that will be enacted by the Trump administration. Finally, I introduce a song composed and performed by two-time guest and friend of the show Matthew O’Neil named “Atheistmas”, and I play it during the break! I think y’all will really enjoy it!

On the palaver I speak with Social Justice Coordinator for American Humanist Association, blogger, activist, and one of my favorite writers Sincere Kirabo. We talk about social justice, humanism, his involvement at the DAPL protest camp, as well as how we met at a conference in East Tennessee and how I took him to his first Sonic! Sincere is an extremely passionate advocate for social justice and humanism, and I was honored to have him on the show. Thank y’all for listening, and I hope you enjoy the show!

TPPP Episode 17 : Invisible No More

Welcome to another episode of The Podunk Polymath Podcast! In the pre-ramble I talk about the shooting death of Joe McKnight and how the murderer was treated with kid gloves by the authorities. Also, I speak about the wildfires in East Tennessee and the destruction in Gatlinburg, as well as the deaths and property loss of so many people. I talk about how you can help, and what organizations are contributing to the effort.

On the palaver I speak to blogger, activist, and author of ‘Young, Sick, and Invisible’ Ania Bula. We talk about her book, her struggles, her triumphs, ableism, and what abled people can do to help disabled people gain the recognition and dignity they deserve. I was extremely honored to speak with Ania, and I highly recommend her book.

I also wanted to mention that I had the second best week for downloads, behind only the inaugural week, thanks largely to the episode with Tucker Drake, host of The Atheist in the Trailer Park Podcast. His episode has proven to be very popular! Also, my promo appeared on his show as well as Secular Yakking (whose promo is on this episode). TPPP Episode 16 : Trailer Park Confessions

Welcome to another episode of The Podunk Polymath Podcast! On the pre-ramble, I speak briefly about the death of Fidel Castro, and why the world is better off without him. Also, I tell of a new promo that I have put out and that you should listen for on other podcasts!

On the palaver, I talk to the host of The Atheist In The Trailer Park Podcast, Tucker Drake. We talk about his show and what topics he covers, including his current reading of The Apocrypha and occasional guest appearances by the lovely and brilliant America Darling Curl. We then turn to a more serious subject, that of poverty. Tucker tells his story of his personal struggle with poverty, and we try to find a light at the end of the tunnel, but we don’t have much success. Despite some of our more sober conclusions, I hope y’all enjoy this episode The Triple Po!

TPPP Episode 15 : Assembly Required

Welcome to another episode of The Podunk Polymath Podcast! This week on the pre-ramble, I talk about how the cast of ‘Hamilton’ and how they had some words for Pence who was in attendance at one of their shows, and how Trump can’t shut up about it. He said the theater was, get this, a safe space! Oh you thin-skinned orange buffoon! Are these the kind of tantrums we can look forward to for four years? And if some theater actors can get under your skin so easily, what are you going to do when a world leader or ISIS pisses you off? The prospects are truly frightening to contemplate.

On the palaver I speak with Felicia Powers, Former Community Director at Sunday Assembly Baltimore. We talk about humanism; Sunday Assembly; her experiences at a Christian school; and her journey to Atheism. Felicia is an incredibly passionate person, and I’m sure you will find her story extremely compelling. I hope you enjoy listening this episode of the Triple Po as much as I had putting it together!

TPPP Episode 14 : Election Depression

This is the second ‘special edition’ of The Podunk Polymath Podcast. The pre-ramble is very brief, and I only read a new review of the show I received on iTunes.

On the palaver, I have a roundtable discussion with three guests : Former guests Jeanne Ikerd and Matthew O’Neil, as well as Canadian David Eastmond from The Wayward Atheists Podcast. We have a wide-ranging discussion about the outcome of the presidential election, and what we can do as concerned citizens to help those marginalized groups that could potentially affected by Trump’s policies. I hope this episode helps people realize that there are people out there willing to help in any way they can, and also that it’s time to stand up and do something to make sure that fear doesn’t win. Please, y’all who are scared and worried, stay safe and know that you’re not alone.
